Walking Groups

The Frodsham, Helsby and Elton Community Partnership is working to help improve health and care services for people, with people, in their communities. We know that walking is highly beneficial in terms of both physical and mental health. And when this walking takes place in a group then it can also serve to reduce social isolation. We also know that there are numerous Group Walks available to us in our communities and thus we have taken this opportunity to begin to create a comprehensive database of walking groups available in our communities. This page will be updated regularly. We have included walks for all abilities, short, long and everything in between. We have identified two different kinds of groups: ‘open’ which are open to everybody, and ‘closed’, which are open only to members of that group/organisation. We also appreciate that many of these groups allow non-members to attend a number of their walks before expecting them to join. Just ask!

If you are a Walk Leader or the secretary of an established Walking Group, and your group/organisation is not listed above, we would really like to hear from you. There are five pieces of information that we would need:

  • The name of your Walking Group/Organisation
  • An idea of the timing and frequency of your walks eg. the first Wed of each month
  • A contact name, phone number and/or email address, website
  • Whether your group is Open or Closed
  • Approximate average mileage/distance of your walks. We would like to include a range of walks to attract new, as well as experienced walkers.
